As we have learned more about the woods, we have come to view it as an ideal setting for an Environ-mental Learning Center. As such, school children and citizens from the entire metropolitan region would have the opportunity to learn more about nature in this wooded parcel of land. The Friends of the Birch Pond Watershed / Save Anwatin Woods (FBPW/SAW) is working with The University of Minnesota's Design Center for the American Urban Landscape , teachers and staff from Anwatin Middle School and Bryn Mawr Elementary, Minneapolis Park System and others to develop this concept.

Here are three concepts showing possible configurations of an Environmental Learning Center. These drawings are not intended to be finished plans. They are a starting point that interested parties that will eventually use to determine how the woods will be used. The drawings show three extremely different modifications of Anwatin Woods.
